Famous Indian Cuisine has been proudly serving Toronto’s Gerrard Street community since March 2000. Family-owned and operated, we offer a wide selection of made-to-order Indian favourites, from rich curries and tandoori specialties to biryani, vegetarian dishes and fresh naan.
Whether you’re joining us for a family dinner, picking up your favourite meal, ordering from home or planning a catered event, our goal is simple: great Indian food served with the warmth and hospitality of family.
Our Story:
Famous Indian Cuisine began with a dream.
Owner Sukhi came to Canada from a small town in India with hopes of creating a brighter future for his family. Bringing with him a love for Indian food, culture and hospitality, he found a new home in Toronto; one of the world’s most diverse cities.
In March 2000, that dream became Famous Indian Cuisine on Gerrard Street East. What began as one family’s new chapter in Canada grew into a neighbourhood restaurant where Sukhi could share the flavours and traditions he grew up with with people from many different backgrounds.
More than 26 years later, Famous Indian Cuisine remains proudly family-owned and operated by the same family. While Toronto and Gerrard Street have changed over the years, our commitment to welcoming our customers and serving the Indian dishes they know and love has remained at the heart of Famous.
From a small town in India to a bigger dream in Toronto, our family is proud to call Canada home and proud to have been part of the Little India and greater Leslieville community since 2000.
