Main Street Design Challenge now open for submissions
A new Canada-wide challenge is calling on the design community to generate ideas for responsible, sustainable and resilient design solutions for hard-hit main streets that can be implemented during COVID-19 recovery and post-pandemic. Submissions will be shared online in a free, open-access Main Street Design Playbook to be released on October 5.

Tech volunteers help family business launch online produce and grocery delivery service
A family of entrepreneurs was about to launch a new venture to supply fresh foods to Toronto restaurants when the pandemic hit, forcing many establishments to close their doors. They decided to pivot their business model to deliver food directly to people’s homes instead, and took advantage of ShopHERE powered by Google to help them build a virtual storefront. City of Toronto staff connected the business with tech volunteers from Scotiabank Digital Factory and within one week Crisp was up and running online!
