We know that the COVID-19 pandemic has hit main street businesses particularly hard, and hope that with vaccines arriving this shutdown will be the last. As you plan for reopening or change business practices as restrictions change, we are asking you to consider the needs of vulnerable populations.

Please see a letter from our Acting General Manager, Economic Development & Culture, City of Toronto with important information on this topic.

SafeTO

SafeTO is the City of Toronto’s Community Safety and Wellbeing (CSWB) Plan, which is currently being developed in line with theOntario Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019.

While there is no one single definition of community safety and well-being, research suggests it is affected by a host of social, economic, political, safety/security and health factors. We have attached some background information for you.

As part of the City’s engagement for Safe TO, it wants to ensure that the voice of the business community is heard and that the impact of economic factors specifically is considered in enhancing Community safety and Well-being in the City.

To that end, the City is planning to conduct a series of one-on-one interviews with business owners, property owners as well as BIA management and Boards to understand CSWB through an economic and business lens.

Interviews will be conducted in late February and early March, and the deadline for expressing an interest and willingness to be interviewed isTuesday February 23, 2021.

If you are interested please register for an interview at –https://cotsurvey.chkmkt.com/safetoBIA
