5 Suitable Summer Outdoor Activities for 2020 and Beyond

Summer’s in full swing, but there’s no denying it looks a little different this year. But even if your holiday is on hiatus, you can still get out and enjoy the warm, beautiful weather! Here are a few outdoor activities to keep your summer fun and safe:

Give “hyperlocal” nature trips a try.

Most urban areas have hidden pockets of nature – you just have to look for them! Explore your own backyard by visiting a green space nearby. We highly recommend the Don River Valley Park trails, the Kay Gardner Beltline Trail, and the Beaches Lakeside Boardwalk.

Take in the scenery.

Pack a picnic, hop in the car, and check out a local outdoor destination you’ve passed in the city but never had time to enjoy. Remember to follow distancing and sanitation rules. Gerrard India Bazaar has a ton of art and murals on display year-round!

Order in or dine out at a CafeTO patio.

A safe option for a meal away from home,  grabbing dinner at a local patio will let you and your family relax and refresh. It’s sure to bring back a small sense of normalcy during these strange times. We have a few great options in the Gerrard India Bazaar. Not feeling up to dining out just yet? No worries – Order in from home.

Have an outdoor movie night.

Transform a wall into a movie screen for an evening! Rent a projector and show a family fav, or themed feature film – neighbours can bring their own drinks and popcorn, and you can even play movie trivia after the show. Check out our local Bollywood Music Centre for a huge selection of amazing Bollywood films!

Grow a garden.

Get the family involved in nurturing a backyard (or even balcony!) garden with your favourite veggies and flowers. Hit up your local gardening centre for seedlings and supplies, and maybe get some tips from The Social Gardener. Watch it flourish with every passing day.
